What is happening in the COVID world

In the US, the big topic this week is getting a foothold on testing. 

At this time the number of tests availbe in the US, if used according to CDC guidelines, would last five days. President Biden has said that it’s due to the rapid spread of the Omicron and that nobody saw this coming. Vice President Harris has said they didn’t see this coming. Today, Biden has said it’s up to the states to handle testing. Now, that is similar to the policy President Trump had from the outset.; he built hospitals, manufactured ventilators, manufactured and prodcured PPE, handled the vaccine with Warp Speed, and told the governors to jump on the testing. Anything the states needed, he asked them to notify him, and they did, and he stepped up.

Today, Biden, after a full year, has broken the first, the very first, campaign promise on his policy website (as of today it’s at COVID Timeline – Joe Biden for President: Official Campaign Website – we have noted both the NBC and MSN references to this now link to other pages.

Fix Trump’s testing-and-tracing fiasco to ensure all Americans have access to regular, reliable, and free testing.

• Double the number of drive-through testing sites.
• Invest in next-generation testing, including at home tests and instant tests, so we can scale up our testing capacity by orders of magnitude.
• Stand up a Pandemic Testing Board like Roosevelt’s War Production Board. It’s how we produced tanks, planes, uniforms, and supplies in record time, and it’s how we can produce and distribute tens of millions of tests.
• Establish a U.S. Public Health Jobs Corps to mobilize at least 100,000 Americans across the country with support from trusted local organizations in communities most at risk to perform culturally competent approaches to contact tracing and protecting at-risk populations.

Note, this is not the only campaign promise Joe Biden broken, and it’s not the only Virus promise Joe Biden has broken, and it is not the only promise he has broken. This is merely today’s most recent Virus campaign promise that he’s broken.
