Don’t Means Do
Key Point. Down with America = Death to America. They both mean an end to your life as you know it; they both mean the end of US; they both target you and your children.
So here we are. In case you are unaware, there is war in Ukraine and in the Middle East.US are heavily involved in both conflicts. They are ugly, intense, and protracted. Tens of thousands have died. There is huge infrastructure and property damage. When one party threatens another with escalation Biden’s leadership to date consists of the word “Don’t.” We think this is the extent of his ability to extemporize an answer, but it has become the enfeebled response of Biden’s entire administration. His captains and minions deign to upstage him with a more eloquent or explicit warning. None of the warnings indicates what in general US is prepared to do. So the respect we get as a superpower is – None.
To be fair, Biden has gone several times farther with his prohibitions. He has muttered “Don’t, don’t, don’t.” This has now become US Official Foreign Policy.
With respect to both significant wars involving US – Ukraine and Iran – plus the flashpoint in Taiwan, we would do well to remember this:
“Never in the history of the world has
battle nor war been won with shields.”
Well, the first thing that happens when the words become offensive, the Permissives change the words. But the message does not change. The softening of the words takes place to make US reaction to the words less virulent. It’s nonexistent magic, and it’s indoctrination in a sense. To continue the analogy, it’s Verbal De-Sensitization.
When you warn someone not to take an action, you have to back up your warning if the action is taken. We’ve all seen the meme of a person drawing a line in the sand, and when the line is passed, the coward steps back and draws a new line in the sand. US are acting as cowards now. We don’t’ stand with our friends and allies, and we don’t defend our own security. This is the Biden Doctrine.
What these words mean is not changed by someone stating they mean something else:

The literal meaning of the Persian phrase “Marg bar Âmrikâ” is “Death to America.” …
The chant “Death to America” has come to be employed by various anti-American groups and protesters worldwide.[14]
Iranian officials generally explain that the slogan in its historical context has been provoked by the U.S. government’s hostile policies towards Iran and expresses outrage at those policies, and does not wish for literal death for American people themselves.[15] In a speech to university students, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Khamenei, interpreted the slogan as “death to the U.S.’s policies, death to arrogance.”[16] Following a meeting with Army and Air Force commanders, Khamenei declared that the Iranian people are not against American people, but that “Death to America” means down with American leaders, in this case Donald Trump (President), John Bolton (National Security Advisor), and Mike Pompeo (Secretary of State).[17][18]”
Finessing nomenclature is a favorite way for opposition or radical persons to disguise their threat or taunting as having a subtly different meaning. Philosophically, it is the same as lying. Really, if another nation or its incentivized protestors is intending to murder a country’s leadership, it is threatening the entire nation and its citizens. It’s like saying in the schoolyard, “I’m going to beat you up. You interpret that as you want.”
“History with respect to US/Iran Relations
…
Following the fall of the pro-American Pahlavi dynasty in early 1979, Iranian protesters regularly shouted “Death to America” and “Death to the Shah” outside the U.S. embassy in Tehran, including the day the embassy was seized on November 4, 1979, which commenced the Iran hostage crisis.[20] Throughout the crisis, Iranians surrounding the embassy chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Carter.”[21] When Iran released the remaining 52 American hostages on January 20, 1981, they were led through a gauntlet of students forming parallel lines that shouted “Death to America” as they boarded the airplane that would fly them out of Tehran.[22] “
So the bottom line here is you may hear “It’s OK, because it’s only ‘Down with America, not Death to America,’” but it’s not. It’s just someone trying to soften you up, get you to say something they want you to say. And besides, are you OK with someone telling you to repudiate your life and your heritage? Are you really down with “Down with America”?
