Alternative Tour
Key Point. Jimmy Failla continues to use an absolutely untrue analogy about one of our fave topics, the TdF. Jimmy! I don’t think he’s a liar, just ignorant – right Jim?
Jimmy, I get what you’re saying about the backup Biden Presidential candidates.
Our position is that the real switch-o change-o will come at the DNC Democratic National Convention in Chicago July 7-10, 2024, and that will be to Michelle Obama (65%), Hillary (15%), and Newsome and Kamality (10% each), but really who the F knows anyway? But
Jimbo you are absolutely mistaken about alternates in the Tour de France.
TdF is the ultimate man’s game (there’s a women’s TdF too and that’s the ladies’ ultimate, maybe other than rock climbing).
There are no TdF alternates. Each team starts out with eight bikers. Someone gets disabled, the team now has seven. That’s it. You either get back up and ride, or the entire race has one less participant. Usually something like 15% of the men who start do not finish, and that’s just how the race is. Not only that… you can crash out, and you can get disqualified for a few reasons, you can get time and money penalties as well as disqualification for various reasons (like unsportsmanship), and you can fail to meet any day’s time cutoff. If you fail to meet the time cutoff, you’re also out.
Guys ride with boo boos. Guys try to conceal conks (concussions) to stay in the race. Guys ride with horrible road rashes gained from hitting gravel at 55 mph. Like 4 square feet of road rash, and maybe blood running down their faces for good measure. Yet they get up and finish and “well, maybe be better after some soup and sleep.” They try to ride with broken bones! Jimmy, the doctor rides next to them in a convertible with pain killer injections and kilograms of bandages!
So Jim, Jimmy, James… NO ALTERNATES IN THE TdF!
